Summer haircare

As the temperatures rise and we spend more time outdoors, your haircare needs may change.

Some of us may be washing our hair more frequently so using gentle products like Kevin Murphy will look after hair and avoid it getting stripped of moisture.

You may notice too that your hair will feel dry with increased sun exposure. Use a deep conditioning masque once a week, your hair will thank you for it.

Lots of our leave in treatments have U.V filters which act like sunscreen for the hair, helping to prevent dryness and excessive colour fade. Wearing a hat or headscarf while sunbathing will also protect your hair.

SWIMMING, wet your hair with tap water before swimming. it will stop it from absorbing so much chlorine in the pool, or salt water in the sea. Chlorine can discolour blonde hair and salt water is pretty drying. Always wash your hair after swimming. Kevin Murphy restore is great for this its a cleansing treatment so you just need one product.

Summer is also a great time to embrace your natural texture and allow your hair to airdry naturally, giving it a break from heat styling. Using an oil in wet hair will help tame frizz, while a curl enhancing product will add definition if you have wavy or curly hair.

Get a trim! we forget sometimes how refreshing it is to get a haircut. Whether its simply removing split ends and adding a bit more shape, or going for it and cutting that bob you've been thinking about. Wearing the length above the shoulders is pretty hot right now.....

One final note for hair extensions, Make sure your sunscreen in MINERAL and does not contain avobenzone or butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane - (what a mouthful) Using sunscreen with these ingredients will cause a chemical reaction within the extension hair turning it a pinky peach colour. EEEEK.
